Attribute #11C, Love of GodReview: 7C. Omnipresent – pray with power in the presence of God’s face– (He is everywhere for everyone) 8C. Omniscient all-knowing – Develop an understanding of God, Pray with supernatural impact! (He knows everything about anything and everyone) – pray with understanding and wisdom for everyone. 9C. Omnipotent – all-powerful; strong (draw upon God’s Power for strength, pray with/ for power for those who need it from God) 10 C. Just – Equal to judge all (judge [one another with] righteous judgment) Love of God = ‘God seeking the highest good of displaying His own will’ – Charles Ryrie Ephesians 2.4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) NKJV Ep 2.4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), From the Prayer Notebook:
1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation [satisfaction, payment] for our sins. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Two Kinds of Love:
These words are the principle Greek words for Love in the NT. Love is the key word in the verses Jesus spoke summarizing the OT law: Mark 12:28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" 29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: `Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 `And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. 31 "And the second, like it, is this: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
God’s Demonstration of love is seen here: Ro 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Actually God demonstrates His love for us in a number of ways, all of which find their source in His basic nature of LOVE:
Many other attributes could be included and should be as you expand your own prayer notebook in studying this very encouraging subject. Applications:
