1A. ADORATION – I set
You apart today because of...
To hallow is to set apart.(=To put special
reverence upon, make high priority of, spend special time with – a few of the
many ways to HALLOW GOD NAME) "He is" [He. 11.6]
Deut. 6:5
You shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He
is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Exodus 3:14
And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I
AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM
has sent me to you.' "
Daniel 2:20
Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the
name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His.
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts,
and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the
hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
PR 3:5-6 Acknowledge Him in all your ways. The two basic
ways to hallow God are 1B) to recognize His person– God's IDENTITY. The
second is 2B) to recognize His Works – His ACTIVITY.
[personal application:] Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding; [6] In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
1B. WHO YOU ARE – You are the God. (God's IDENTITY)
Because God wants to be First, and
to be honored as such.
2. What does it mean?
To be set apart, treated uniquely,
revered or specially honored
3. How do I apply it during prayer?
1. First we ask: Why is it first? Without a God to pray to, why pray at all? Naturally we
should go first to Him in prayer- We were created by Him! Next, by going first to
Him our focus is away from our self. Having a self-centered focus prevents us from
seeing God as He truly is. But going first to Him aligns our focus on Him and His
ways. This helps us understand Him much more easily, and then the remainder of
our prayer is more logical and acceptable to us.
Often we find it difficult to submit to God's will or wishes for us, but usually it is only
because our view is incomplete of Him. As it becomes more complete of Him we
tend to love and appreciate Him more, just as we love human companions as we get
more acquainted with them- be they spouse or sibling or neighbor or whoever else
we love and admire. Thus we acknowledge the one we have begun to love and that
acknowledgment builds for us a relationship we eventually depend on for all of our
life. Proverbs 3:5-6 for this reason is many a Christian's favorite verse.
This verse explains to us several important things that help us understand why God
wants us to 'set His name apart' from all other things.
Hebrews 6:6 But 1)without faith it is impossible to please Him:
for he that cometh to God must believe 2) that He is,
and 3) that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Without faith we cannot know who God is and what He does because He cannot be
seen with the mortal eye.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen.
The two ways to have faith are
1) to believe that "He Is..." The verb here is "being," "to be," that is "to exist." In
other words, we have to trust in the fact that God does exist with a recognizable
character even though He cannot be seen nor His existence proven.
2) to believe that "He is a rewarder..." This means that He does Works that reward
those who exercise faith in Him.
Thus when we hallow His name in prayers we are acknowledging
1. His Attributes - they describe WHO HE IS.
Also when we hallow His name in prayers we are acknowledging
2. His Works- they describe WHAT HE DOES.

Preview of The Attributes
The prayer notebook thus begins with the attributes of God. The first three are:
God is 1)Infinite (endless) 2)Eternal (timeless, enduring) and 3)Immutable
(changeless)
1)Infinite (endless) Because we are made in His Image, though we are none of these
three, the character of God manifests Himself through us.
His infinity creates an influence, and Our existence creates an influence. The
application of His attribute of infinity is our duty to be influential more than we
originally began to be. "Be fruitful, multiply and replenish..." is His command. (It
was given To Adam and Eve, To Noah, To Ishmael, To Jacob, again to Joseph at the
death of Jacob, and finally to all Israel)
Genesis 1:22, 28 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and
let fowl multiply in the earth. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of
the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (God to Adam & Eve)
Genesis 8:17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle,
and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth,
and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. (God to Noah for all the Animals on the Ark)
Genesis 9:1, 7 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth. 7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply
therein. (God to Noah & his Sons)
Genesis 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful,
and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. (God
to Abraham for Ishmael)
Genesis 28:3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a
multitude of people; (Isaac to Jacob)
Genesis 35:11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company
of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; (God to Jacob)
Genesis 48:4 And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a
multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting
possession. (Jacob to
Joseph)
Leviticus 26:9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my
covenant with you. (God to all Israel in the Law)
His eternity creates a purpose for living, and an urgency of life. Though He has no end
or beginning of his being, He calls us to be "redeeming the time for the days are
evil." - Eph 5:16; Col 4:5
His immutability creates consistency that we rely on each morning as the sun rises,
each spring when the earth renews itself, and each event of the heavens which
astronomers predict with astounding accuracy. We are commanded not to change,
and to be unmoveable, and resolved to continue in the ways He sets for us to go.
Psalms 44:18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Psalms 78:9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
Psalms 78:41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
Psalms 78:57 But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful
bow.
Proverbs 24:21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to
change.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the
work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
